Qualifications:
All tutor candidates go through a rigorous interviewing process and pass criminal background checks,and assessment tests in addition to meeting our high standards for friendliness and professionalism. They all have previous tutoring experience and most hold bachelor’s degrees in the subject areas they tutor from America’s top universities – like Stanford, Harvard, UCLA, USC, and more. Many of our tutors also have graduate degrees, are currently employed as teachers, or hold teaching credentials.
Training:
Our experienced tutors recognize that each child is a unique learner and that personalized instruction is the most effective form of education. Our tutors are trained to:
• Assess and engage students’ individual learning styles
• Work toward identified goals and measurable results
• Teach long-term study skills and a love of learning
• Communicate with parents to maximize their involvement in the educational process.
Tools:
Depending on the subject and a student’s goals, our tutors use assigned school materials or customized curriculum as the foundation for each tutoring session. Our resource specialist team has also created lesson plans covering skill sets in every subject from kindergarten through 12th grade, and our tutors use these materials to meet students’ specific needs. Assessment tests are available at no additional charge to any student K-12.
